Jamille van Wijngaarden

Jamille van Wijngaarden (1989) is a film and commercial director from Amsterdam (the Netherlands). Jamille is one of the 3 directors of the Virtual Reality film ‘Ashes to Ashes’. This is a English spoken short tragicomedy in virtual reality about how a dysfunctional family handles the dying wish of their pater familias, Grampa “Git”. The viewer experiences all the scenes from the point of view of the urn. But what is reality and what is fiction? And who’s reality is real?

At an early age, Jamille managed to figure out her dads camera and started to make short films that involved the whole family. Even though she was a young girl she developed a taste for horror and massively influenced by ‘The Blair Witch Project’ and ‘The Ring’ she set out to make her own scary movies, usually killing her dad in the end.

In 2012 she won the award for her commercial ‘Snow White’ at the Prix Europe Festival in Berlin in the category ‘Languages through Lenses’.

Jamille graduated in 2014 as a film director at the Netherlands Film Academy and was praised for her graduation film ‘Happily Never After’, a humorous crime set in a fairy tale village.

In 2016 she directed the new Dutch television comedy sketch show ‘Infantilio’ (VPRO).

For advertising she’s represented by 25FPS Commercial Production and works on mainly TV-adverts.
