Ricardo Laganaro is one of the most innovative filmmakers in Brazil, partner and Chief Storytelling Officer at ARVORE Immersive Experiences. His many-sided knowledge blends live action, stop-motion animation, computer graphics and writing.
Laganaro entered the immersive world directing a fulldome experience for Museum of Tomorrow in Rio. During 2016, he has directed 360º musical and advertising projects that sum more than 60 million views. He was a speaker twice at the SXSW festival in Austin, as well as events like Comic Con Experience, Wired Festival Brasil, Mediamorfosis, Immersed Festival (Toronto), among others; and he is visiting professor at the Laboratory of Design and Immersive Experiences at the Fine Arts University (Universidade Belas Artes) in São Paulo.
Ricardo was selected by Oculus to be part of the program “VR For Good”, where he directed the VR documentary “Step to the Line”, premiered at the Tribeca Festival 2017 and selected for Sheffield Doc/Fest, Edmonton International Film Festival, FoST among other 15 festivais in the world. FastCompany considered the film a groundbreaking example of how VR’s horizons can be expanded to change people lives, and Time Magazine quoted the piece as one of the five best contents in mobile VR, for being successful in provoking a transformation of the viewer’s opinion about the inmates. For this leadership and commitment to action for social change, Ricardo was invited to be the opening speaker for the first Global People’s Summit during the UN General Assembly on September 2017.
