We are proud that deputy mayor of Amsterdam Kajsa Ollongren will open VR Days Europe. Her portfolio includes Economic Affairs, Art and Culture, Local Media and Investments. She has said that “Amsterdam is the gateway to Europe” and that is why we believe she is is the right person to kick off VR Days Europe.
“I wanted to be the one to take action.” We love this quote of Ms Ollongren, who is a role model for young women who encourages other women to get involved with government. “I believe in diversity,” she says, “and it’s important for women to enter politics, to break through that glass ceiling. It’s no longer a question of our capabilities. It’s a matter of just doing it and being confident.”
Kajsa Ollongren is the deputy mayor of Amsterdam. She is also an aldersperson in the city council and a member of the political party D66 with over two decades of experience in Dutch politics, including working for a number of different ministries in The Hague. Her previous role was as Secretary General at the Prime Minister’s office, where she worked for four years, overseeing his weekly consultations with all the ministries’ Secretary Generals and the Coordinator of Intelligence and Security.
