Bio Bas Verhart
Bas is a co-founder of DFFRNT, together with Taco Ketelaar and Winston Gerschtanowitz.

Bas is a digital entrepreneur and a multiple award winner. In 1997 Bas co-founded MVLG eBusiness Consulting, which later became part of Lost Boys LBi — a leading digital agency in Europe. In 2002 Bas Verhart co-founded Media Republic an Amsterdam-based new media company. As part of Media Republic, Guerrilla Games (www.guerrilla-games.com) was founded, one of Europe’s leading game development studios. In December of 2005 Guerrilla Games was sold to Sony Computer Entertainment Europe. Media Republic was sold to Grey (WPP) in 2010.

In 2006 Bas started the PICNIC conference, an international event in the areas of creativity, media, entertainment and technology. In 2007 and 2008 respectively, Bas was awarded with the ABN AMRO NEW MEDIA Award and the Coq D’Honneur Award for his contributions to the Creative Industries.

In 2010 Bas co-founded THNK, The School of Creative Leadership (www.thnk.org). THNK is a global education and innovation institute supported by Stanford University, McKinsey & Company, Vodafone, AT&T, Cisco, UNStudio, and others. It offers a new type of creative leadership education in places like Amsterdam, Vancouver, Shanghai, Lisbon and Silicon Valley.

Bas served on various boards: Amsterdam Economic Board (chaired by the Mayor of Amsterdam Eberhard van der Laan), The Dutch Innovation Platform (chaired by former Prime Minister Dr. Jan Peter Balkenende), Trendwatching.com and Meta Design. Bas received the Amsterdam IJ-Prijs from the Mayor of Amsterdam for his contributions to the City of Amsterdam.
