Zillah Watson is a leading BBC expert on virtual reality and author of VR for News: The New Reality?, published by the Reuters institute for the Study of Journalism. Her work has premiered at festivals around the world – including Tribeca Storyscapes, iDocs, Sheffield Documentary Festival and the Future of Storytelling Festival. She’s an experienced public speaker and has recently run workshops or spoken at the Prix Italia 2016, Global Editors Network Conference 2016, Sheffield Documentary Festival 2016, Geneva Documentary Festival, Munich Documentary Festival, iDocs, Wikimania.
She leads on innovative approaches to digital storytelling, including pioneering 360 storytelling for BBC News and creating the BBC’s first VR story experiences. She’s developed relevant and practical approaches to transferring emerging technologies into TV, radio and web production.
For the third consecutive year Zillah is the chair of the VR Days conference.
